Adjustable main jet kit for TM24-9Will also fits EHR TM24/TM26
The kit contains1 Custom-made float bowl
1 Float bowl gasket
4 Float bowl screws
1 Adapter with o-ring
1 Adjustable main jet stm-002
InstallationThe small brass tube, seen in picture 2, must be cut 6 mm.
Replace the drain hose from your old carburettor and connect it to the corresponding nipple on the flhst-002 float bowl. Let the hose go through the loop of the float bowl so that it points upwards (picture 3). The hose will then act as 1) indicator of current fuel level 2) preparation for a future power jet connection.
Set the adjusting screw to 2 turns. This corresponds to approx. a #350 nozzle. With this setting the engine should run too rich. Drive to a halt and screw the screw 20 degrees clockwise. Repeat the procedure until you find the spot where the motor starts to rev. Now make sure you didn't screw it in too far. This you do by backing out the adjuster and repeat the test. Set the screw in the spot where you just leave the too rich condition. In other words exactly the same procedure as when finding the correct size of a fixed main jet.
The adjustable main jet has a flow range corresponding to mikuni hex (4/042) size #0 to #350. Approximate values below:
- 1/4 = #60
- 1/2 = #110
- 3/4 = #140
- 1 = #170
- 1 1/4 = #210
- 1 1/2 = #250
- 1 3/4 = #300
- 2 = #350
Please leave the transparent rubber cap on. It prevents the adjusting screw from unsetting and is still fully adjustable with the cap in situ.
